Research grants: Filling important knowledge gaps
TIAA Institute Fellows and other leading scholars are encouraged to submit innovative research ideas on financial security, higher education and endowments and foundations.
Grants from the Institute support research on such important issues as Defined Contribution plan design, financial literacy, behavioral finance, employer health benefits, and investing in an educated workforce.
Other research themes include new business models in higher education, including such topics as innovation and financial sustainability, new workforce models and new governance models.
Recognizing the profound importance of leadership excellence, the Institute has also funded studies examining the changing role of the college and university president, the pipeline to the presidency and the provost’s role.
The TIAA Institute collaborates with organizations to advance knowledge in its areas of focus. For example, the TIAA Institute has joined forces with the Pension Research Council at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to fund high-quality, innovative research on retirement policy and practice.
